Commitment and authenticity : the story of La Chaise Française
Meet the brand's co-founder : Hector de Bartillat
With a background in economics and professional experience revolving around culture and textiles made in France, the co-founder of this company has forged a rich and diverse background. At the end of a professional project, he dared to take the plunge into entrepreneurship by joining a partner with an innovative idea, that of "La Chaise Française". Faced with the decline of the French chair in the industrial landscape, and after striking encounters with manufacturers in difficulty, the bold idea was born: to give new impetus to this functional element by revitalizing the distribution chain and associating French know-how with contemporary furniture.

The beginnings of the brand
After the launch of a first collection in 2017 followed a period of growth abruptly interrupted by the arrival of the global pandemic. For this reason, in 2021, the brand has reworked its range and its mode of operation. It has invested in a factory that has specialized in seating for several generations.
"This manufacture was the ideal partner as they combine high quality, high capacity production with specialized collections for the community that deserved a major design development." Hector de Bartillat

The company collaborates with renowned designers such as Margaux Keller, Guillaume Delvigne and Adrian Blanc. Their collection is now available on their website.
La Chaise Française was chosen to represent France at the 2022World Expo in Dubai. The brand was able to showcase its chairs and tables in a dedicated area.
"This exhibition was a great success and a great international gathering where the French stand represented what French manufacturing was capable of doing". Hector de Bartillat
Discover its emblematic models
Unique models characterize La Chaise Française, including the first model, the peasant stool, now out of stock. Three emblematic models stand out :
+ The CL10B chair, combining practicality, adaptability and low ecological impact, available in a range of colors.

+ The H10 Chair, the fruit of a collaboration with Margaux Keller, which stands out for its cut reminiscent of the Ant chair.

+ The Bar H10 version, proudly displayed in our Bocklip showroom in Paris behind our island. Available in 3 shades - black, oak and natural - ideal for adding a sophisticated touch to any bar.

La Chaise Française plans toexpand its range step by step, in a sensible manner. This October will see the launch of a lounge chair designed in collaboration with Guillaume Delvigne, promising an elegant marriage of comfort and aesthetics. The year 2023/2024 will be rich in novelties with the launch of new models. The aim is to offer customers even more choice to create spaces that are both unique and refined.

La Chaise Française's sustainable commitments
A brand mindful of its environmental impact
The company is committed to a sustainable impact characterized by :
+ Short circuits
+ A minimal carbon footprint
+ Waste reduction
+ The use of environmentally-friendly materials.
Wood being a key material in its production, the brand is helping to defend this sector by supporting nurseries in France. It has entered into a long-term sponsorship agreement with "Plantons pour l'avenir".Planting for the future"Every time a French chair is purchased, a tree is planted in a sustainably managed French forest. What's more, the company's production process is optimized to minimize waste. Among other things, they recover the wood from cuttings to heat the factory.
Made in France
At La Chaise Française, pride lies in manufacturing that is entirely Made in France. Nearly 80% of the production process takes place in our own factory, bringing together the expertise of a team of around one hundred people. Opting for a chair from La Chaise Française means choosing a piece that embodies durability and quality: wood from nearby PEFC eco-managed forests, other components sourced exclusively from French suppliers, sustainable materials such as wheat starch glue or water-based paint.
Selecting the right chairs for your workspace
Choosing your office chair
When it comes to choosing an office chair, it's important to take your needs into account to find the one that's right for you. Comfort, lumbar support, height adjustment and ease of maintenance are all important criteria to consider.
With the rise of telecommuting, La Chaise Française has sought a solution to offer designer wooden chairs for working comfortably at the office. The chairs feature a thick layer of foam and fabric upholstery.

To maximize efficiency, it's common to spend hours uninterrupted on our office chair. For optimum comfort, the co-founder recommends using it for no more than 3 hours at a time. Whether your chair is ergonomic or not, it's advisable to take regular breaks. These moments of respite will reduce the strain on your back and revive your productivity. So don't forget to get up, stretch and take time to look after your well-being during the working day. Your body will thank you.
Chairs for the little ones
The " mini H10″ chair is the perfect choice for young schoolchildren as they head back to school. This unique Scandinavian-inspired piece adds a modern touch to the bedroom or play space: ideal for doing homework! What's more, they're made to last from generation to generation.

Caring for your wooden chairs
Maintaining your wooden chairs is a crucial step in preserving their beauty and durability. Hector de Bartillat shares his recommendations for keeping them looking their best. First of all, he recommendsusing a cloth to apply a disinfectant or household product to clean them regularly. However, he warns against a common practice: avoid spraying the product directly onto the chairs. By following these tips, you'll ensure the longevity and splendor of your designer wooden chairs for years to come.
