Ripaton : guide to choosing furniture legs

Ripaton : guide to choosing furniture legs

Furniture legs are an essential element for a successful furniture renovation or custom furniture creation project. Ripaton, a French brand founded in 2015 by Margot and Tom, offers a wide selection of furniture legs made in France.

In this article, we explore the brand's history and its commitment to sustainability and the environment. And as an added bonus, the designers will guide us in choosing the right furniture legs.

The inspiring journey of Ripaton's creators

Meet thebrand's creators : Margot and Tom

Margot and Tom, the founders of Ripaton, met at business school in Montpellier.

Before setting up Ripaton, Margot worked as a sales rep at Dell, while Tom had launched a small web agency.

The idea for Ripaton came from their personal need for furniture legs to give their coffee table a makeover.

They then discovered a lack of supply in France and Europe. That's why they decided to fill the gap with quality table legs.

The first steps

Ripaton was launched in 2015, initially on Etsy with a simple pin table leg model. Soon, they created their own website, to offer a wider range of products.

Over the years, the brand has evolved and expanded its offering to include different product categories, such as handles and wall shelving.

Today, we offer 25 table and furniture leg models in different sizes and colors, and over 350 references to meet all your needs.

We have legs for all kinds of needs: coffee table legs, dining table legs, high table legs, console legs, kitchen island legs, TV stands, desk legs, bed legs... the possibilities are endless!

The brand's best-sellers include the ORIGINAL, COSTAUD, MIKADO and INTREPIDE table and furniture leg models.

In 2023, we plan to expand our range with a new outdoor product. But it's still a secret: launch planned for early June !

Ripaton's strong commitments

Ripaton has been committed to sustainability, quality and respect for the environment since its inception .

We make solid, durable products that enable our customers to make or upcycle their own furniture, instead of buying poor-quality "fast-furniture" from the ends of the earth. We really want to advocate a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly way of consuming.

Here are some of their commitments :

+ French manufacturing: Our products are made in our Montpellier workshop. As a result, inventories are better managed, and production is based on orders and customer needs.

+ Local suppliers : Ripaton favors local suppliers for steel, cardboard and paint. This reduces the carbon footprint of production.

We use steel exclusively. Our supplier is local, the steel comes from Spain or Italy (unfortunately, there is no more steel manufactured in France).

+ Recycling : The company recycles all its steel scrap to manufacture smaller products. All cardboard used comes from recycled cardboard. And that's not all: the brand has set up a take-back program for old products in exchange for a voucher.

+ Social impact: Ripaton collaborates with an ESAT for certain tasks, thus supporting the employment of disabled people.

How to choose the right furniture legs for your project ?

Margot and Tom give us some tips on how to choose the right feet !

Adapt feet to your furniture type

Depending on your intended use, choose legs specifically designed for bathroom, living room, coffee table or dining table furniture.

Ripaton offers models to suit every type of project.

Estimate the weight of your furniture

The first step when looking for legs for a table or piece of furniture is to estimate its weight. If it's too heavy, consider adding a leg to the center of the piece to distribute the weight.

Provide extra legs for long pieces of furniture

If your furniture is long, you need to guarantee its stability and distribute its weight. To do this, you'll need additional feet in the center of the cabinet. And not just on the edges.

Follow the installation recommendations

Furniture legs are fastened using screws (often supplied) and a screwdriver. Some furniture may also need to be wall-mounted for greater stability.

In conclusion, selecting the right furniture legs allows you to bring your interior vision to life and assert your unique style.

So dare to explore the different options, let your imagination run wild and create a space that reflects your personality and enhances your everyday life.
