Georges : a local, authentic interior design brand

Georges : a local, authentic interior design brand

Created in 2010, Georges exudes French craftsmanship. The eco-responsible interior design brand promotes a delicate art of living, tinged with the raw authenticity of manual labor. Meet Georges' designer, Mylène Niedzialkowski, who has just unveiled her first tableware collection. Immerse yourself in the world of Georges, where a passion for authentic, local decor is evident in every piece.

A passion for creation

Mylène Niedzialkowski is a discreet enthusiast who prefers to let her hands do the talking. As a child, she used to build and furnish miniature houses, driven by the desire to make things herself, just like her grandmother, an upholsterer, and her grandfather, a jeweler. Sewing, embroidery, knitting, Mylène Niedzialkowski is a jack-of-all-trades. Her teenage years, spent with her restless parents, were punctuated by numerous moves, each time with the desire to imagine a new cocoon. Another way of creating that will never leave her.

She is also developing a nomadic spirit, with the need to imagine a familiar world that can easily be adapted elsewhere. With the birth of her first child, Mylène Niedzialkowski's desire was for modular, lightweight creations that were also easy to transport.

The Georges adventure, the timeless name of a moustachioed ice-cream cabinet, begins.

Georges, a smooth ascent

In 13 years, Georges has become a leading brand in the world of French craftsmanship. Between experimentation with raw materials and traditional manufacturing techniques, Georges takes its time to unveil jewel-like creations. Furniture, lighting, linens, home decor and even clothing - everything is delicate, unique, different and, above all, ethical.

" Georges is 13 years of creation based on love at first sight for textures and colors. 13 years of prototyping, meeting with local artisans and sourcing French materials wherever possible," confides Mylène Niedzialkowski.

The success of the Pale suspension (in brass, rattan and fabric) is one of the reasons why the brand has become so well known. Inspired by the retro ceiling fans of louvered bedrooms, this suspension, like a flower in full bloom, is still the brand's best-seller.

Georges continues to experiment with the world of decoration. Mylène Niedzialkowski and her craftsmen have just unveiled their first collection devoted to the kitchen. More specifically, the art of the table: Orriule stoneware ceramics and linens. Each piece is unique because it is handmade and produced in small series.

The opening of the factory

At Georges, manufacturing is as local as it is artisanal. So it's hardly surprising that in 2020, the brand opened its own factory in Meritein, in the Béarn countryside. Here, some thirty craftsmen chisel, cut, glue, dye and assemble.

The factory is divided into 3 workshops: fabric, technique, then collage and cutting. This year, the former 1852 building will welcome its first guests in residence. Conceived as a place for exchange and sharing, the Manufacture de Georges designs 2 collections a year, as well as collaborations with various artists. These include the painter Madi and Milou Neelen, creator of theHôtel Magique.

"Each year, we propose our vision of a room in the house.. Theidea is to have the most complete and accomplished collection, thought through from start to finish, from the smallest object to the central piece of furniture. As for our collaborations, they are born of a mutual admiration for each other's work, a passion for craftsmanship and the handmade, and a desire to create something together at the crossroads of our two worlds", explains Mylène Niedzialkowski.

Ethics at the heart of Georges

Georges is a brand committed to eco-responsibility, like Bocklip with its sustainably creative project. This is reflected in the origin of its raw materials, most of which are French:

  • Cotton is from Normandy and silk from Lyon.
  • The wools come from the Pyrenees and Hautes-Alpes. Household linen made from old metis is collected from surplus, second-hand and flea markets in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes Pyrénées and Haute Garonne.
  • The wood is sourced from French eco-managed forests.

Finally, tableware is produced using Orriule stoneware. And for more complex objects, we use exclusively ecological, biosourced and biodegradable materials.

The paint is made on site from flour and natural pigments.

Naturally, each item is produced to order, to avoid stock-outs.
