Why keep parquet flooring in my kitchen or leave it out ?

That's the question that comes up a lot, and our answer would be: it depends on the use or the house, and we're going to give you a more detailed answer.

I decided to keep the parquet floor in my kitchen because it's an integral part of my living room. At first, I wanted to lay parquet tiles but I couldn't find the right size.

If your kitchen is :
+ in a room opening onto the living room,
+ if you live in an apartment
+and that you're careful
=> then a resounding YES, you can opt for parquet flooring. Herringbone, Chevron or laminate, there's something for every taste. Our favorite is solid oak parquet, unstained in herringbone or English style.
?The mistake to avoid is laying parquet under furniture. Pprefer to lay tiles only under furniture and stop 8 cm before the doors, then lay the parquet. In the event of a leak behind your furniture, you won't have to redo your floor.
Others will argue that wood is water-repellent, and this is absolutely true.
If you opt for parquet flooring, you'll have to accept that it will "live". And that in front of the dishwasher and sink, it may be slightly damaged.
=> A solution to this problem: lay a 40 to 50 cm wide strip of tiles in front of the sink unit (or continue tiling under the furniture for another 50 cm, you get the idea? ;)).
?Le must : la bande de carrelage de la même couleur que le plan de travail comme le projet de AD Vanessa Faivre.

Don't hesitate to choose a hardwood floor like solid oak. Don't choose soft wood, which will mark your floor over time.
Our confidential address for solid oak is the Beziers sawmill. As well as being on a human scale (it's not a big chain), they can advise you and are very affordable.

If you live in the country, and your kitchen looks out onto the garden, you'd be better off with tiles or natural stone. They'll be more resistant to humidity and to the traces of shoes from outside.
